About Lachie

Dr Lachie McKeeman

Dr Lachie McKeeman

Dr Lachie McKeeman is a rural GP and father of three who has lived in North East Victoria since 2013 and has settled in Wooragee with his family. He works as a doctor in Wodonga, and is deeply involved in his community as a volunteer firefighter at Wooragee CFA and as both player and committee member of the Yackandandah Football and Netball Club.

He completed a Bachelor of Biomedical Science at Deakin University before studying medicine at the University of Wollongong, and has been a Practice Principal at Federation Clinic in Wodonga since 2020, working as a rural generalist doctor. Through his medical career, Lachie has seen firsthand the challenges facing people who live outside the big cities - access to healthcare, workforce shortages, cost-of-living pressures and the need for strong local services. Lachie’s decades of frontline healthcare experience have fuelled a passion for improving outcomes for patients, communities, and health services.

Lachie is running as the community-backed independent candidate for Benambra, because the region has been taken for granted for too long and deserves better than what it is getting. He is a doctor, a neighbour, a volunteer and a parent - someone who has chosen to put down deep roots in this part of the world and wants to see it properly represented. Lachie is standing as a candidate because he believes our community deserves someone who will listen, tell the truth, and stand up for what is right for us.

Beyond the surgery

Lachie plays football in the Tallangatta league, loves exploring Benambra's gravel and mountain bike trails and is β€” by his own cheerful admission β€” 'pretending to be a farmer.' He's not someone who has just showed up for this election. He's someone who has been here, building a life in the same community he's asking to represent.
